Hi!
Shannon here fellow bloggger from shanjamespr.blogspot.com about all things Rincon, Puerto Rico. While Annie and Justin have been out, we’ve experienced quite a rainy summer here, which is just what we were expecting. Mornings filled with sun (hurry! Get to the beach!) Then lazy afternoons reading books in the rain. Not a bad sceneario, I think.
However, the other day we felt something new and a little alarming. A water spout right off the coast of Rincon, swirling around and causing some minor damage to trees on the 115 when it came on land!
I was napping (in the middle of the day, I know…) and all of a sudden I shot out of bed after hearing some pretty serious wind. All of our neighbors were outside, staring at the sky, while James was transfixed on a spinning object high up above the hills. No, it was not a ufo, it was a kiddie pool, swept up in the storm and looking incredibly creepy. Then, more wind, more swirling dark clouds, and huge clumps of grass flying in the air.
We saw just the end of the funnel, right before it broke up and went back into the sky. James stood out there watching in disbelief, but believe me, I was already hiding in the bathtub with my survival gear and my dog.
Here’s a photo captured from Tres Sirenas Ocean Villa, looking out to sea and witnessing this wild vortex up close and personal:

Now we’ve got a tropical storm heading our way, Ms. Emily! From the looks of it, we’ll be dealing with some rain.
I’ve fully stocked all of our supplies:
candles
lighters/matches
canned goods (hooray for peas!)
water jugs
Happy Hurricane Party!
